MSTISLAV ROSTROPOVICH, IN MEMORIAM
CU RUSSIAN SOCIETY is proud to present:
“MSTISLAV ROSTROPOVICH, IN MEMORIAM”
A recital by The Legendary
ALEXANDER IVASHKIN (Cello)
and IRINA SCHNITTKE (Pianoforte)

Dear CURS Friends!
We cordially invite you to the concert, which we honestly believe is invaluable to all of us!
Here are just some references to the Artist invited by us:
“Outstanding cellist” – Mstislav Rostropovich
“His cello sounds like an orchestra, with lyric and tragic spirit at the same time!” – Corriere del Ticino
“Ivashkin is a cellist we should hear more often” – The Financial Times
Indeed, the world fame of Alexander Ivashkin could only be compared with the glory of Mstislav Rostropovich — his close friend and colleague.
These artists have been representing the highly renowned tradition of Russian cello playing; and in the same vein as Rostropovich’s unfading thirst for the new compositions for cello — which stipulated the birth of the real masterpieces by Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Liutoslavski, etc — Alexander Ivashkin is leading the cello repertoire, introducing the first performances of the new works by the most famous composers of today (Alfred Schnitke, Krzysztof Penderecki, more than 50 world premieres).
Alexander Ivashkin has given concerts in all parts of the planet, in the most prestigious concert halls, with the most famous conductors, companions and orchestras… The phenomena of Alexander Ivashkin deserves a special description — please see the web-site:
