CURS Formal Hall, 31 October
We cordially invite you to the first Russian Hall of the year!
Robinson College is the youngest college but is renowned among Cambridge folk for its delicious cuisine served in a spacious and grand setting! Please come to enjoy the atmosphere and friendly conversations and toasts with couple of dozen people affiliated with the Russian Society.

CURS Punting, 29 October
Come and enjoy (hopefully) sunny afternoon on the River Cam with people affiliated to the Russian Society! Our punting trips are usually immense fun accompanied by singing songs like “Iz-za ostrova na strezhen’” and “Variag”;). You might get a bit wet but no “Titanik” sutuation is guaranteed.
CamRuSS Evening of Russian romance, 28 October
Cambridge Russian Speaking Society (CamRuSS) invites you to an evening of Russian romance by a well accomplished professional singer Stella Sims (soprano).

- WHERE: Jesus College Chapel, Cambridge
Accompaniment by Michael Jones (piano & organ). In the programme: beautiful Russian romances by Rachmaninov, Balakirev, Tchaikovski, Grechaninov et al., some old favourites, and some unfairly forgotten ones. A unique opportunity to hear this delightful and inspirational voice from Birmingham!
CURS Film Night, Возвращение, 25 October
The winner of the Grand Prize at the Venice Film Festival 2003 and many other awards, VOZVRASHCHENIYE (THE RETURN) by Andrey Zvyagintsev finds its place within the pantheon of Russian Cinema.

CURS Squash, 15 October
You are cordially invited to the first informal gathering of the year – Russian Society Squash!!!

- WHERE: Darwin College Party Room (next to the bar)
The Squash is always very popular with freshers and people returning to Cambridge after a long vacation. Attended by more than 50 people last year, this year’s Squash promises to break all previous records! Please come to meet many interesting people, whether old residents or newcomers, learn more about Russian and Slavonic culture, and become involved with the Society!
Everybody is welcome – you don’t have to be Russian or even speak Russian (please feel free to bring your friends)! We will provide free snacks and drinks, including free “Русский стандарт” (”Russky standart”) vodka shots for early visitors!;) You will also be able to join the society and buy our new T-shirts at special discounted prices!
CamRuSS Mushroom Walk, 7 October
Cambridge Russian Speaking Society (CamRuSS) invites everybody to its annual Mushroom Walk!
- WHEN: Saturday, 7th October, starting at 12 noon.
- WHERE: Hinchingbrooke Park, meeting in the car park by the entrance.
Great fun for the whole family:
- A hunt for mushrooms and other exciting creations of nature
- A walk in the woods with an expert mycologist
- Sizzling barbecue
- Rope-skipping and other games and competitions
Please bring: a picnic to share (including something barbecuable, e.g. sausages), any kind of drink to warm you up (or cool you down), a basket (if there are any mushrooms) and perhaps a football/volleyball or something similar.
