Course of meditation from the Sri Chinmoy Centre

!Invitation to the course of meditation from the great CURS friends Sri Chinmoy Centre!

Dear Friends! It has been our great pleasure and privilege to meet many people from the Russian Community during the organisation, and now the follow-up, to the wonderfully successful concert at the Royal Albert Hall of your brother, and ours, Boris Purushottama Grebenshikov. We hope that the bond of friendship which unites our two organisations, the CU Russian Society and the Sri Chinmoy Centre, will be a long and fruitful one.

You may know that Boris has been a student of spirituality and meditation for many years now, and has found a particularly strong source of inspiration in our meditation teacher, Sri Chinmoy. We feel this to be a perfect opportunity to invite you, in the spirit of mutual friendship, to a set of free meditation classes given by international guest speaker Ashirvad Zaiantchik from Brazil.

It has been our experience that the thirst for Khowledge and Truth is most powerful in the Russian heart and mind. We therefore cordially invite you to this set of classes and we hope you will be inspired to learn the art of meditation and that you will discover the unique benefits and the wisdom which meditation brings.

Your brother Dr Steve Guy

‘Dostoevskiy and Pobedonostsev’, 14 June

organised by CamRuss“DOSTOEVSKII and POBEDONOSTSEV: PARADOXICAL FRIENDSHIP”

by Dr Alexander Polunov, visiting from Moscow State University, Faculty of History.

Followed by wine, juice and nibbles.

Alexander Polunov will shed light on both literary and personal relationship between F.M.Dostoevskii, the great Russian writer, and K.P.Pobedonostsev (1827-1907), one of the most famous statesmen of Late Imperial Russia.

Though often portrayed as a mere reactionary, Pobedonostsev was a complicated and profound figure. He strove to influence Russian public opinion, and treated Dostoevskii as a valuable ally. Dostoevskii, in his turn, appreciated Pobedostsev as a pious statesman who could revitalise the Orthodox Church and re-establish its role in social and spiritual life of Russia.

Nikolai Gogol’s ‘Revisor’

Drama Foundation students at Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts present as their end-of-year production a famous Russian play:

“THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR” (i.e. REVIZOR) by NIKOLAI GOGOL

Gogol’s masterpiece is one of the most famous comedies in world theatre; its dazzling blend of absurd characters and all too real and extremely funny situations has ensured its survival. The Shed is one of the newest and most cutting-edge theatre venues in the city.

Directed by Jean Stewart with physical theatre direction by Mila Bogen, choreography by Bernie Wilfred and voice coaching by Rebecca Cuthbertson.
